The answer to our problems isn’t government or big business. Sure they need to do their part. We vote for our officials and vote with our dollars everyday at businesses. But it is grass roots support from students and citizens changing one personal ecosystem at a time that’s going to make the real difference. Maui should be an example to the world for sustainable living. We are blessed with incredible natural resources and an abundant supply of sun, wind and wave energy.
In fact, we could lead world regarding environmental issues. As tenants of our planet we cannot allow the disaster of global warming to continue. Future generations will suffer unless we each do our part and take drastic action. Maui is an island, an ecosystem in and of itself, the perfect proving grounds for new conservation measures and promising technology.
Green living could not only change your life for the better but also help turn the tide on the devastating impact that global warming could have on our precious island. From the students, neighbors, businesspeople and Government officials I talk to, I’m sure we will take the necessary steps to revitalize our environment in Maui and change one personal ecosystem at a time.
